Renault India is preparing a significant update to its vehicle range, including the introduction of an electric hatchback, likely the Kwid EV. Recent testing has been observed in Tamil Nadu, with the vehicle displaying temporary number plates. The design of the test model closely resembles the Dacia Spring EV, which is sold in global markets. The Kwid EV could potentially use the Dacia Spring’s 26.8 kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 220 km on a single charge. Another possibility is the development of an Indian-specific variant with localized components to offer a competitive price. The latest sightings show less camouflage, revealing elements like tail lights, a rear wiper, and steel wheels. The international Dacia Spring comes with different powertrain and battery options. The base version features a 44 BHP electric motor, while higher-end versions have a 64 BHP motor. The range and charging times depend on the specific version. Renault might also introduce an ICE version of the Kwid alongside the EV variant, building on the success of the existing ICE Kwid.
