Ranchi. After the intervention of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the return of 48 migrant workers from Jharkhand stranded in Tunisia has been ensured. Along with this, payment of wages to all workers has also started. Larsen & Toubro Limited has paid Rs 30 lakh so far. The company has also arranged all air tickets for the return of these workers. All these workers will depart from Tunisia to India on November 4, 5, and 6.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Hemant Soren received information about 48 migrant workers from Jharkhand being stranded in the African country of Tunisia through Twitter. Taking this matter seriously, the Chief Minister sent it to the State Migrant Control Room working under the Department of Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development.
According to the information, all these workers are residents of Hazaribagh (19), Giridih (14), and Bokaro (15) districts. They were sent to work for a company named PCL Prem Power Construction Ltd. Due to not receiving salary for the last three months, these workers were facing financial crisis.
Swift action by the State Migrant Control Room
The State Migrant Control Room immediately took cognizance of the matter and established contact with all the workers stranded in Tunisia. Subsequently, with the cooperation of the Government of India and the concerned company, their return and clearance of outstanding payments were ensured.
This initiative reflects the sensitivity of the government and its commitment to the interests of migrant workers.
