Emcy Joseph’s *Meesha*, a Malayalam film, aims for complexity but struggles to deliver a satisfying experience. The film’s structure, like Japanese dolls, hints at hidden layers of meaning, but these remain hidden. The main plot, focusing on Midhun, Anandhu, and their association with a corrupt politician, feels predictable and uninspired. The introduction of hunter Kitho, played by Shine Tom Chacko, adds another element, but the two plotlines never fully connect. The film, therefore, falls short of its aspirations, despite some positive elements. Kathir provides a strong performance as Midhun, while the female characters are underdeveloped. The bison is an unusual central feature as the hunter is now the hunted. Ultimately, *Meesha* struggles to leave a lasting impression.
