Following her outstanding performances in the ODI World Cup, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent (DSP) in the West Bengal police. The state government formalized this significant appointment on Saturday. A special ceremony was organized at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally handed over the appointment letter to Ghosh. The event served as a grand felicitation for her World Cup heroics. Ghosh was also honored with the distinguished Banga Bhushan award by the state government. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) marked the occasion by presenting her with a golden bat and ball, and a cheque for Rs 34 lakhs, referencing her 34 runs in the final match. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly praised Ghosh’s composure and skill while batting at number six, emphasizing the high-pressure situation she navigated effectively. Both Ganguly and the Chief Minister expressed their belief that Ghosh has the potential to captain the Indian women’s cricket team in the future. Ghosh revealed her strategy, which involves setting practice targets and relishing the challenge of playing match-winning innings.
