Jharkhand authorities are investigating a threat made against the Director of RIMS, Dr. Rajkumar. The threat, delivered via phone by a man named Chandan Kumar, involved physical violence and a demand for the director to leave Ranchi within two weeks.
Dr. Rajkumar stated that he had a prior acquaintance with Chandan Kumar, who runs a private hospital. The director explained that Kumar had previously sought to interfere in RIMS’s operations. The situation escalated when the director did not yield to pressure regarding transfers and postings. This resulted in Chandan Kumar making threatening calls and sending abusive messages via WhatsApp.
An FIR has been filed, and the police are looking into the matter.
Dr. Rajkumar had previously been in the news when he was removed from his post on April 18, 2025. He subsequently challenged the decision in the Jharkhand High Court, leading to his reinstatement after the court stayed the removal order.
