The government has launched a new scheme to support individuals injured in road accidents. The ‘Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme 2025’ will provide cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for victims involved in accidents with motor vehicles. This coverage is available for seven days from the date of the accident and can be accessed at any designated government hospital. The primary goal of the scheme is to ensure that accident victims receive immediate medical attention and improved care. The program will be managed through the National Health Authority (NHA) IT platform, enabling faster, online, and simplified processes. The government anticipates this scheme will provide financial security and timely treatment. In cases where the vehicle is insured, the insurance company will cover the treatment costs. For uninsured vehicles, the central government will fund the treatment, with a budget of ₹272 crore allocated for the financial year 2025-26. All designated hospitals across the country are included in the scheme, guaranteeing that treatment starts immediately without any delays or discrimination. This information was provided by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways in a written response in Lok Sabha.
