Russia has issued a statement denying reports that it is providing RD-93MA engines to Pakistan for its JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets. This denial directly contradicts the claims made in earlier reports. The reports had suggested a potential shift in the strategic dynamics of the region, especially concerning the relationships between Russia, Pakistan, and India.

A Russian source stated that there is no confirmation of supplying RD-93MA engines to Pakistan. The source further added that the claim doesn’t seem logical for those keeping track of the major deals between Russia and India. The source suggested that attempts are being made to harm cooperation between Russia and India, which could have implications on the high-level meetings between the two countries.

The JF-17 Thunder is a 4.5 generation stealth fighter jet jointly developed by Pakistan and China. The aircraft, with over 150 units in service, is the mainstay of the Pakistan Air Force, and the Russian-made RD-93MA engine is essential to its operation. Now, Russia has rejected these claims.

This announcement is made just before Russian President Vladimir Putin’s expected visit to India in December. In addition, Putin has stated that he finds trust and comfort in his conversations with Indian Prime Minister Modi. Moreover, the implications of the US tariffs imposed on India for purchasing crude oil from Russia were discussed, and Putin has also addressed the topic.
