The White House, through press secretary Karoline Leavitt, has communicated Donald Trump’s response to the recent Russian air strikes on Ukraine. Leavitt said Trump was “not happy” with the situation but “not surprised.” She added that Trump wants the war to end and believes Putin and Zelensky also desire peace. These strikes are considered among the most significant since the conflict began. Further statements from the former President are forthcoming. These remarks come as the United States and Russia continue diplomatic efforts, including truce talks in Alaska, to end the war. Russia deployed long-range weapons, including hypersonic missiles, targeting Ukrainian military assets. The attacks reportedly struck weapon manufacturing sites and airfields. Ukraine’s military stated it intercepted most incoming missiles and drones, while admitting Russian strikes were successful at multiple locations, resulting in damage from debris. Footage showed missiles hitting the same location in Kyiv, identified as the office of Ukrspecsystems. Additionally, a plant operated by the Turkish military firm Bayraktar in Kyiv was also targeted. Earlier, Russia’s Federal Security Service reported an operation against Ukraine’s Sapsan ballistic missile program, claiming significant disruption. Moscow argues that Western nations are leveraging Ukraine as a proxy, and that the war primarily benefits foreign powers.
