Samsung’s New Foldable Phone: Could It Be a Trifold with Limited Availability?

Samsung is preparing to showcase its latest foldable device at an event in the coming days, with the initial launch targeted at the Chinese market, slated for October 11. The company has released a teaser image. Specific details about the new phone, including color options (such as red or black which were standard for the previous-gen W series), remain undisclosed. However, the teaser hints at a gold-colored frame for the W26. Samsung has achieved considerable success in the foldable market, but hasn’t matched the dominance of brands such as Huawei, Vivo, Honor, and Xiaomi. Recent reports suggest that Samsung may unveil a new trifold phone at the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. The company intends to showcase the new model at an art exhibition coinciding with the summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 21 to November 1. This trifold phone will be an evolution of the current Galaxy foldable phones, which use a bi-fold design. If released, Samsung’s trifold would be only the second of its kind, following the Huawei Mate X. While other companies like Tecno have shown off tri-fold devices, they are not commercially available. The APEC 2025 summit runs from October 31st to November 1st in South Korea. According to Android Headlines, the initial production run of the trifold is set to be very limited, around 50,000 units. For comparison, the original Galaxy Fold’s initial production run was between 30,000 and 100,000 units.
