Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai praises the courage of the security forces

Raipur, February 1, 2025/ Security forces in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, have achieved a major success in the anti-Naxal operation. During an encounter between security forces and Maoists in the Gangalur police station area, the bodies of 8 Naxals have been recovered along with several weapons, including INSAS rifles and VLJ launchers. Security forces suspect that more Naxals may have been killed or injured in the encounter. An intensive search operation is currently underway in the area.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai lauded the success of the security forces, stating that the Chhattisgarh government is fully committed to eliminating Naxalism. He said this is a major victory for the security personnel and he saluted their courage. He added that the personnel are fighting bravely against Naxalism. He mentioned the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah’s commitment to ending Naxalism in the country by March 31, 2026, and expressed confidence in achieving this goal. He stated that Naxalism is on its last legs. He further stated that the government’s goal is to completely rid Bastar of Naxalism and accelerate the development of the tribal community. The Chief Minister appealed to Maoists in Naxal-affected areas to abandon violence, surrender, and avail the benefits of government rehabilitation schemes. This is considered a significant achievement under the anti-Naxal operation conducted by the Chhattisgarh government.

According to the information received, on January 31, 2025, a joint team of DRG, STF, Cobra 202, and Keripu 222 units received information about the presence of Maoists in the West Bastar division. Based on this information, security forces launched an anti-Naxal operation. During this operation, several intermittent encounters occurred from 8:30 am on February 1. During this encounter, security forces killed 8 Naxals and recovered explosives and modern weapons from their hideouts.

It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh government is establishing new security camps in Naxal-affected areas of the Bastar region to provide security to the people. Simultaneously, under the “Niyed Nella Naar” scheme, the government is developing basic infrastructure in villages and providing access to government schemes and programs. The “Niyed Nella Naar” scheme includes road construction, development of education, health, drinking water, electricity, and promoting employment in villages, which is helping to establish lasting peace in Naxal-affected areas.
