The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is embarking on a major campaign across India, centered on promoting self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) and the use of indigenous products. This initiative follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal from the Red Fort and is seen as a strategic response to global trade tensions.

The ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ will run from September 25th to December 25th. It will involve a series of activities across the country, including conferences, marches, and educational outreach to various segments of the population. The campaign aims to engage traders, industries, farmers, women, and entrepreneurs, with the goal of raising awareness and encouraging the adoption of Swadeshi products and practices.

A key focus of the campaign will be the upcoming festive season, where the emphasis will be on encouraging the purchase and sale of Swadeshi goods. This includes promoting the use of Indian-made products, supporting retailers who sell Swadeshi items, and encouraging the use of traditional diyas instead of imported lighting products during Diwali.

The campaign is being directed by BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda. This move is particularly significant given the ongoing tariff disputes, particularly with the United States. While India is exploring new export markets in Europe and elsewhere to counter these tariffs, it is also prioritizing self-reliance by reducing dependence on foreign imports and promoting indigenous products.

The ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ seeks to instill a sense of self-reliance among the people of India. The campaign will kick off on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and conclude on the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp’ conferences will be organized in all districts in October. Subsequent phases of the campaign in November-December will extend to all mandals. The campaign will encourage active participation from various social and business organizations, as well as stakeholders such as local artisans and craftsmen.
