The District Legal Services Authority in Koderma organized a comprehensive medico-legal awareness and health check-up camp for senior citizens residing in the local old age home, following directives from the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority, Ranchi. The camp was designed to enhance the legal understanding and physical health of the elderly.

A significant part of the event involved a live online broadcast from Ranchi, showcasing the inauguration of the Mother Teresa Clinic at an old age home by the executive chairman of the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority. This broadcast also included the distribution of medical assistance and other beneficial schemes to senior citizens, highlighting state-level welfare efforts.

Balkrishna Tiwari, the esteemed Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, addressed the attendees. He underscored the profound moral responsibility citizens have to respect their elders. Judge Tiwari committed the District Legal Services Authority to diligently work towards preventing any infringement of senior citizens’ rights and safeguarding their fundamental freedoms. He shared that honoring elders is integral to personal growth and societal well-being, and the authority finds fulfillment in this service.

He urged the younger generation to value the wisdom of seniors, follow their guidance, and attend to their needs attentively. Gautam Kumar, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, reiterated the authority’s unwavering commitment to providing free legal services for the protection of elderly rights. He assured that every effort would be made to support the residents of the old age home and improve their living conditions.

Medical examinations were meticulously carried out for all elderly residents by the Koderma Health Department. The Principal District Judge directed the medical team to continue regular health monitoring and to ensure the consistent supply of medicines. He also engaged directly with the senior citizens to ascertain their well-being and to assess the overall management of the facility. Furthermore, a collaborative initiative by the District Legal Services Authority and the District Administration ensured the distribution of essential items such as blankets, shawls, caps, warm clothing, and sweets to the elderly residents.
