The foundation stone for the Maa Sita temple at Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi, Bihar, was laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha. Kumar stated that the central government would allocate Rs 883 crores for the redevelopment of the Maa Janki temple complex. He also discussed the ongoing efforts to improve connectivity between Sitamarhi and Ayodhya through road and rail networks. This includes the launch of a new train to Delhi. Deputy CM Vijay Sinha viewed the occasion as a landmark event contributing to Bihar’s progress and the Prime Minister’s vision for a developed state. Shah had previously described the day as auspicious for the nation and, particularly, Mithilanchal, focusing on the comprehensive development of the Punaura Dham Temple. The event was also praised by Union Ministers Giriraj Singh and Chirag Paswan, who called it a historic occasion.
