Skill Development Initiative: Connecting Mithila Painting with Livelihoods in Bihar

The Bihar Skill Development Mission has launched a Mithila painting training center in Patna to provide skill-based employment opportunities. The center, situated near Pokhar Bhawan, Mainpura, will train young individuals, with a particular emphasis on empowering women. This program is designed to promote traditional folk art and create sustainable livelihood options for local youth. The program aims to enhance participants’ skills in Mithila painting, enabling them to use their talent for income generation. The initiative will contribute to the preservation of Bihar’s cultural heritage and promote economic self-sufficiency. The training program will offer free training, materials, and technical support to help trainees establish their own businesses or find employment in relevant projects. The department is also planning to introduce similar programs for other local art forms in the future. This effort is aimed at enhancing Bihar’s cultural recognition and providing long-term employment prospects for local residents.
