Skoda Auto is planning a strategic expansion in India by introducing a greater number of its acclaimed global vehicle models to the market. This initiative aims to appeal to a more diverse range of Indian consumers. While Skoda’s existing product lineup in India currently ranges from around Rs 7 lakh to over Rs 40 lakh, the company has no immediate plans to launch electric cars within the country.

A senior company executive stated that the basic lineup of locally produced vehicles will remain unchanged for the upcoming year. However, in a move to stimulate market interest, Skoda intends to bring select globally recognized and iconic cars to India. This follows the positive reception of models like the Octavia. The specific models slated for import were not revealed.

Skoda’s current Indian portfolio includes its domestically manufactured Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia, as well as imported models such as the Octavia and Kodiaq. The brand is currently celebrating its strongest year in India, having sold 61,607 units between January and October 2025, which surpasses its previous annual sales record set in 2022. Skoda is determined to hold onto its 2% market share in the Indian passenger vehicle segment.

Sales performance is expected to remain strong through the end of the year, driven by positive market trends. Future product developments include expanding the Kylaq range with more trims and updating the Kushaq and Slavia models. Regarding its electric vehicle strategy, Skoda acknowledges the global shift towards electrification and has a substantial EV portfolio worldwide. However, persistent uncertainties in the Indian market, related to trade agreements and EV policies, have made it challenging to establish a stable and predictable plan for EV introduction. Skoda reiterates its commitment to future EV development for India, despite a potential pause in the immediate rollout, recognizing the long-term necessity of electric mobility.
