The Smart City Mission marked its tenth year with celebrations and acknowledgements. Rupa Mishra, who serves as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Director of the Smart City Mission, interacted with the CEOs and officials from all the smart cities through a video conference. Mishra extended her congratulations and remarked on the mission’s role in bringing about positive change and momentum in urban development. She emphasized the continuous work of the Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and integrating their expertise in upcoming urbanization strategies.

During the event, Ranchi Smart City provided updates on their progress to the Indian government. Rakesh Kumar Nandkyoliyar, General Manager (Technical) of Ranchi Smart City Corporation, spoke about their ongoing Greenfield project, which is revitalizing Ranchi. The government is simultaneously working on comparable Greenfield development projects in other areas.

The Director of the Smart City Mission lauded the project, suggesting that comparable initiatives be developed in other cities. The Smart City Mission, under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, is slated to create a comprehensive plan modeled on the Ranchi Smart City model. This model seeks to foster organized development, offer superior amenities, generate employment, and ensure self-reliance through effective land monetization.
