In today’s world, smartphones are indispensable for various tasks, from communication and photography to entertainment and financial transactions. Choosing the right smartphone is crucial. This guide outlines essential factors to consider when buying a new mobile device, helping you avoid potential regrets.

    **Display is Key**
The quality of a phone’s display significantly impacts the user experience. Look for AMOLED or OLED screens, a 120Hz refresh rate, and FHD+ resolution. These features are highly desirable, even for phones in the 10,000 to 15,000 INR price range.

    **Camera Specifications Matter**
Focus on the camera’s sensor, aperture, and features like OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), rather than just the megapixel count. For photography enthusiasts, consider a setup with telephoto and ultra-wide lenses. Also, pay attention to the front-facing camera and its sensor.

    **Set a Realistic Budget**
Before you start shopping, determine your budget. Smartphones are available in a wide range of prices, from 10,000 INR to 1.5 lakh INR. Selecting a phone that meets your requirements while staying within your budget is essential.

    **RAM and Storage Capacity**
At a minimum, aim for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. If you’re looking at phones in the 20,000 INR segment, consider at least 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. This will allow you to store more photos, videos, and applications, thereby reducing the chance of the phone lagging.

    **Battery and Charging Capabilities**
Fast charging and 5000mAh batteries are now standard. Choose a phone with 65W or higher fast charging support to avoid frequent charging. If you are a heavy user, prioritize phones with higher battery capacity.

    **Operating System and Updates**
Ensure the phone runs the latest version of the operating system, such as Android 15 or iOS 18. Regular security and software updates for 3-4 years are vital. If your budget is above 20,000-30,000 INR, avoid phones with only 2 years of OS updates; look for at least 4 years of OS updates.

    **5G Connectivity and Build Quality**
5G is an essential feature in 2025. Additionally, features like Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and eSIM support make a phone future-ready. Consider the phone’s design and build quality. A glass or metal body offers a premium feel. An IP67 or IP68 rating ensures protection against water and dust.
