Snapchat Introduces Paid Storage for Memories: Pricing and Impact

A new policy from Snapchat will require users to pay for storage exceeding 5GB within the Memories feature. This update, impacting users worldwide, targets those with extensive photo and video collections saved since the feature’s 2016 debut. The Memories plan in India is priced at INR 99 per month, offering 1TB of storage. Elsewhere, the base subscription costs $1.99 per month for 100GB, while the Snapchat+ plan offers 250GB for $3.99 per month. Users who surpass the 5GB limit will have a 12-month window to either pay for continued storage or download their content. Snapchat claims that the move to a paid model is designed to enhance the feature and encourage further development.
