    Snapchat has announced changes to its Memories feature, introducing paid storage plans. Users will be charged for storing more than 5GB of content in Memories. Since its inception in 2016, Snapchat has allowed free storage of photos and videos within the Memories feature, where content is designed to be shared for 24 hours. Users exceeding the 5GB limit will now need to subscribe to retain access to their saved content.

    Snapchat’s statement highlighted the unexpected growth of the Memories feature. To address this, the platform is launching new Memories Storage Plans. These plans provide storage options of 100GB or 250GB, accessible via the Snapchat+ monthly plan. A Platinum plan with 5TB of storage is also available.

    The new Snapchat storage plans and their associated costs are as follows:

    * 100GB storage plan: $1.99 per month (approximately Rs 165)
    * Snapchat+ with 250GB storage: $3.99 per month (approximately Rs 330)

    For users who prefer not to subscribe, Snapchat offers a temporary storage solution. Users who surpass the free storage limit will receive 12 months of temporary storage. During this time, they can download their content or subscribe to a paid plan. Here are the steps to download Memories content for free:

    1. Open the Snapchat app.
    2. Go to ‘Memories’ by tapping the photo icon.
    3. Tap and hold the Snap or Snaps you want to save.
    4. Click on ‘Export’.
    5. Choose where you want to save your Snap.
