The United States will not participate in the G20 summit hosted by South Africa, and the nation has been explicitly excluded from the 2026 summit in Florida, according to former President Donald Trump. Trump has cited grave concerns over alleged human rights violations against the white population, particularly the descendants of European settlers, stating they are being “killed” and dispossessed of their farms. He believes this issue is being deliberately downplayed by “radical left media” and referred to it as “genocide.”

In addition to withdrawing from the summit, Trump announced that all U.S. financial aid and subsidies to South Africa will be terminated immediately. The catalyst for this severe diplomatic and financial action appears to be South Africa’s reported refusal to pass the G20 presidency to a senior U.S. representative during the closing ceremony. Trump’s strong stance suggests a significant re-evaluation of U.S.-South Africa relations, emphasizing a perceived lack of international standing for the African nation.
