Team management is reportedly exercising caution, aiming to prevent any recurrence or worsening of the injury, particularly with a packed international schedule on the horizon. A decision to rest him from the ODIs would be a proactive measure to ensure his complete recovery for future commitments. If Gill remains absent for the Guwahati Test, Rishabh Pant will continue to captain the side as India looks to recover from their 30-run defeat in the first Test, where they were bundled out for 93 in their chase of 124.
