Special Electoral Revision Aims to Protect Every Legitimate Voter

In a move to fortify the electoral process, the Election Commission of India has launched a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for electoral rolls in 12 states and union territories. This comprehensive update targets regions such as Gujarat, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh, aiming for pristine voter lists. The existing electoral registers have been frozen, and enumeration is set to commence on November 4, with the final, updated rolls to be published on February 7, 2025, using January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The Chief Election Commissioner’s directive underscores a firm commitment: to ensure that no legitimate voter is removed from the rolls.
