Mohammad Azharuddin, the former Indian cricket captain, has expressed his opinion on India’s upcoming match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for September 14 in the UAE. The Asia Cup will run from September 9 to 28. Azharuddin criticized India’s decision to play Pakistan in the Asia Cup while bilateral series between the two countries are not happening. He believes that if bilateral matches are not feasible, India should avoid playing in international events as well, while acknowledging the authorities’ final say. These comments came after the India Champions withdrew from a match against Pakistan Champions in the World Championship of Legends, which was eventually canceled due to political reasons. Azharuddin pointed out that unlike the Asia Cup, which is governed by the ACC, the WCL is not an official tournament approved by the ICC or the BCCI.
