Bangladesh Faces Setback as Star Batsman Liton Das Misses Zimbabwe Tour

The Bangladesh national team has lost a key player ahead of its One Day International series against Zimbabwe. Liton Das, a top‑order left‑handed batter, suffered a hamstring injury that prevented him from completing the required rehabilitation, forcing him out of the three‑match series.

Team physiotherapist Baijedul Islam Khan stated that Das failed the fitness assessment and will not be able to contribute in the upcoming fixtures. Parvez Hassan, another left‑handed batsman, has been called up to fill the vacancy.

During the opening match, Zimbabwe managed 141 runs before being bowled out. Bangladesh’s highest contributions came from Numan Nyamhrui (33) and Richard Ngwarwa (27). Nahid Rana’s six‑wicket spell (10 overs, 21 runs) and Taskeen Ahmed’s two wickets (32 runs) were highlights of the Bangladeshi bowling attack.

Bangladesh’s chase fell short at 116, with only two players surpassing ten runs. Nurul Hasan top‑scored with 31 off 44 balls, while Tawhid Hruday added 25.

Zimbabwe’s bowlers Richard Ngwarwa (3 for 31), Brad Evans (3 for 34) and Blessing Mujarabani (2 for 24) were instrumental in restricting Bangladesh. The second and third ODIs are set for July 9 and July 11 respectively.
