In a major boost for Indian tennis, Bengaluru will host a groundbreaking two-week ATP Challenger 50 swing in May at the S.M. Krishna Tennis Stadium, organized by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA). The tournaments, scheduled for May 11-17 and May 18-24, provide players with uninterrupted shots at valuable ranking points right in their backyard.
Challenger events are renowned for propelling rising stars toward ATP stardom, filling the gap between ITF and main tour. This coup comes hot on the heels of the Bengaluru Open 125’s record 10th edition and India’s edge-of-the-seat 3-2 Davis Cup win over the Netherlands.
KSLTA’s bold long-term plan shines through. Maheswar Rao, Chief Commissioner of Greater Bengaluru Authority, declared, ‘This double hosting commitment turns Bengaluru into a tennis powerhouse, nurturing players, coaches, officials, and inspiring the next wave from the crowds. Thanks to SAI, Karnataka government, and our partners.’
AITA Secretary General Anil Dhupar lauded KSLTA’s efforts toward two more Challengers. ‘It’s key to our 2026 blueprint for competitive depth. Domestic elite play hones skills and confidence rapidly. The Davis Cup triumph proves our potential— these events keep the fire burning.’ Full support from AITA is guaranteed.
This initiative elevates Bengaluru as India’s tennis capital and Asia’s reliable international venue, fostering sustained growth and global competitiveness for the sport.
