The 15th season of the Big Bash League (BBL-15) schedule is now public. The season will kick off on December 14, 2025, with a match between the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at the new Optus Stadium in Perth. Defending champions Hobart Hurricanes will play against Sydney Thunder on December 16. A window of opportunity is opening for Australian Test players to participate in BBL Season 15 due to the Ashes Test ending on January 8. This change could make players available for the season’s final matches. However, players’ inclusion will depend on recovery and Cricket Australia’s approval. Alistair Dobson, Head of BBL Leagues, expressed confidence about the upcoming season, focusing on the uninterrupted match schedule from mid-December to the end of January. The schedule is designed to ensure every team gets a home game in the final week, increasing the chances of Test stars playing in the finals. The possibility exists for players like Nathan Lyon (Melbourne Renegades) to make their BBL debuts, but the participation of Test players such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and others is still uncertain because they are uncontracted for the 2025–26 BBL season.
