ECB announce dates for males’s and girls’s Ashes in 2023, Edgbaston to host 1st males’s Test

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Wednesday, September 21, introduced the schedule for the lads’s and girls’s Ashes to be performed subsequent summer time. The males’s Ashes is scheduled to get underway on June 16 with the opening Test to be performed at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The girls’s Ashes will begin on June 22 with a five-day Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford and Kennington Oval will host the opposite 4 Tests of the lads’s Ashes. The girls’s Ashes additionally includes three ODIs and as many T20Is.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be hosting two Ashes series in 2023, as well as hosting Ireland Men, New Zealand Men and Sri Lanka Women,” Interim Chief Executive Officer Clare Connor, was quoted as saying.

“Next summer will be huge for England Women and England Men. There are few events more special in English sport than a home Ashes series and I know that Heather, Ben, and their teams, will be excited and driven by the challenge of regaining the Ashes,” he acknowledged.

“I am particularly delighted that we have announced our England Men and England Women’s fixtures side by side for the first time, meaning that supporters can enter the ballot or register interest for any fixture on the same day. June and July will be very special months for cricket in this country with the buzz of two Ashes series taking place simultaneously,” Connor added.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), within the meantime, named the venues for the finals of the 2023 and 2005 World Test Championship finals. While The Oval will host the ultimate in June 2023, Lord’s will host the ultimate two years later in 2025.
