Formula 1 fever is set to grip India again, as Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya disclosed preparations for the sport’s return before 2027. In his Monday press interaction, the Union Minister emphasized the government’s proactive role in promoting motorsports, resolving longstanding track issues at Buddh International Circuit.

‘Preparations are in full swing for F1’s comeback after 13 years. Track matters are sorted, and we expect to wrap up work in six months,’ Mandaviya affirmed. The circuit in Greater Noida hosted the Indian Grand Prix from 2011-2013, where Sebastian Vettel claimed hat-trick wins for Red Bull amid roaring crowds.

The event’s abrupt end stemmed from tax battles and financial burdens, suspending it after 2013 and axing it entirely by 2014. Yet, the Tilke masterpiece’s blend of high-speed straights and technical sectors earned rave reviews from F1 stars, fueling dreams of revival.

Mandaviya shared ambitious plans for MotoGP too, with reforms progressing swiftly. This motorsport push is part of a larger strategy to empower sports across grassroots and elite levels, nurturing future champions. As India revs up, the world watches eagerly for F1’s return to Asia’s motorsport powerhouse.
