Delhi witnessed a fitness and green revolution Sunday with the 66th ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle,’ spotlighting ‘Guardians of Nature.’ Forest protectors in full gear cycled commandingly past India Gate, mesmerizing crowds and fusing their wild preservation role with urban pedal power.

The spectacle launched at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium to army band anthems and a resonant shankhnaad start. Environment ministries joined forces to promote health and habitat harmony. Attracting 500+ riders from young to senior, the morning pulsed with preparatory Zumba, yoga, and skipping, building infectious momentum.

Crowning the day was the ‘Pratham PSPB Fit India Cyclothon’—5km of high-stakes racing. Victors: SK Prajapati (men 45), Preeti Mane (women 45). Podium finishes were met with thunderous ovations.

Tributes flowed to Chief Wildlife Warden Dr. P. Vishwakannan and stellar athletes including Arjun honoree Shilpi Bisht (shooting), Mohit Bhandari (basketball), Kushmeet Singh (hockey), Rashmi Kumari (carrom), and Fit India advocate Rahul Pradhan, fueling collective drive.

Capping it off, an expansive public bike parade rolled out, enriched by yoga, tunes, and amusements that festive-ized the arena. Initiated December 2024 by Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the campaign has burgeoned into a pan-India crusade, embedding fitness and eco-responsibility as cornerstones of a thriving society.
