Former India ladies’s coach WV Raman appointed batting advisor of Bengal Ranji group

Former India ladies’s cricket group coach and retired India opener WV Raman has been named because the batting advisor of the Bengal Ranji group for the upcoming season.

Raman will probably be joined by former Bengal captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla, who has been appointed because the group’s new coach.

The resolution was taken by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) after Arun Lal tendered his resignation following Bengal’s semi-final loss to Madhya Pradesh within the Ranji Trophy.

“Raman has accepted the offer. He would be a part of various camps but won’t be available during the tournament as that was the flexibility that both parties agreed to. CAB president Avishek Dalmiya had called Raman and asked him if he is available, and he instantly agreed to don the consultant’s hat,” a senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official informed PTI on Monday.

“Raman has worked as Bengal’s head coach in two different stints and he is very familiar with the set-up. He is basically going to replace VVS Laxman, who was the head of Bengal’s Vision 20-20 programme.

“Shukla will probably be appointed the chief coach of the Bengal group tomorrow. He has been our U-25 coach and many of the gamers share rapport with Shukla, who has been a fighter all his life. He is anticipated to usher in recent concepts into the Bengal set-up,” the official added.

Raman was earlier appointed as India ladies’s group head coach. During his tenure, India reached the T20 World Cup 2020 finals, the place they suffered a 85-run defeat by the hands of Australia on the MCG.
