Ricciardo has been in the limelight throughout the season, unable to match the pace of his car with his teammate Lando Norris, who has grown up with the McLaren academy. The former Red Bull driver, once touted to be amongst the best in the business, has had a terribly underwhelming season, with the car operating below standards.
Speaking on the association with Ricciardo, team principal Zack Brown said that the Australian was a good addition.
“Daniel has been a great addition to McLaren, and it’s been a pleasure working with him. I’d like to thank him for all of his efforts over the last two seasons both trackside and back at base,” he stated.
