French Open 2022: Simona Halep, Danielle Collins knocked out in 2nd spherical; Aryna Sabalenka progresses

American ninth seed Danielle Collins and former champion Simona Halep have been knocked out within the girls’s singles’ second spherical of the French Open on Thursday. Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka has progressed to the third spherical of the 2022 French Open. Sabalenka tamed Madison Brengle 6-1, 6-3

In a battle of Americans, Shelby Rogers upset Ninth-seeded Collins 6-4, 6-3 to achieve the third spherical at Roland Garros for the primary time since 2017. Collins is the seventh top-10 seed to lose.

On the opposite hand, Chinese teenager Qinwen Zheng pulled off a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 upset of the 2018 Roland Garros champion at Court Simonne-Mathieu. The 74th-ranked Zheng amassed 27 winners to Halep’s 9 to earn a visit to the third spherical on her French Open debut.
