French Open: It was a completely improbable match, says Marin Cilic after downing Daniil Medvedev

With the victory over Daniil Medvedev, Marin Cilic has reached the final eight stage for the third time in his profession. He will meet Andrey Rublev within the quarter-final of the French Open.

The 2022 Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev noticed his hopes on the French Open ended by skilled campaigner Marin Cilic.

Croatia’s Cilic defeated 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 Medvedev of Russia within the fourth spherical of the French Open on Tuesday (IST).

“It was an absolutely fantastic match from the first point to the last,” Cilic was quoted as saying. “I enjoyed the atmosphere, enjoyed the night session here. I played incredible tennis – one of the best matches of my career from start to finish.”

Medvedev had solely just lately returned to motion after recovering from hernia surgical procedure. In spite of Medvedev’s spectacular performances in his first three matches, Cilic dominated the match from begin to end and ended Medvedev’s marketing campaign.

Cilic, who has reached the final eight stage for the third time in his profession, will meet Andrey Rublev within the quarter-final.
