A legal challenge to the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match in the 2025 Asia Cup has been unsuccessful. A group of law students approached the Supreme Court, seeking to cancel the match due to ongoing political tensions and recent national tragedies. The petitioners, led by Ms. Urvashi Jain, argued that holding the match in Dubai on September 14th would be inappropriate, given the circumstances. They cited the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, suggesting that a cricket match would be insensitive to the losses suffered. The Supreme Court, however, dismissed the plea, with the presiding justices downplaying the significance of the case. The BCCI has previously stated that withdrawing from multinational tournaments could lead to sanctions from international cricket bodies.
