Young Indian hockey talents are gearing up for a major test as the Under-18 men’s and women’s teams prepare to take on Australia in four riveting matches from May 15 to 20 at the Udhav Das Mehta Central Centre in Bhopal. Post the ongoing National Coaching Camp from April 19 at SAI Bhopal, this series holds immense value ahead of the Under-18 Asia Cup in Kakamigahara at month’s end.

Schedules align for both squads: May 15 opener, followed by clashes on May 17, 18, and finale on May 20. Expect fierce competition as these juniors step into the international spotlight.

Sardar Singh, steering the men’s team, reflected on progress: ‘SAI Bhopal camp was outstanding with players delivering on zeal. Emphasis was on fortifying basics across positions for modern game readiness and senior pathways.’

He stressed, ‘Australia U18 series is essential exposure. It provides high-caliber experience, team cohesion trials, and selection insights for Asia Cup representation.’

Rani Rampal, women’s coach, shared, ‘Camp at SAI Bhopal fostered great player-coach synergy. Australia matches will elevate their game, prep for Asia Cup, and spotlight individual talents.’

With India’s hockey future at stake, these matches could define trajectories, fostering resilience and tactical acumen for upcoming battles.
