India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI: India and Sri Lanka’s first ODI tie, Rohit-Dubey’s brilliant performance

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI: The first match of the one day series played between India and Sri Lanka ended in a tie. In the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and batting first scored 230 runs for 8 wickets in 50 overs. While chasing the target, India could only score 230 runs after losing 10 wickets in the 48th over. In the 48th over, Sri Lankan captain Aslanka got Shivam Dubey and Arshdeep Singh out on consecutive balls to tie the match. Rohit Sharma and Shivam Dubey played brilliantly in the match played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Chasing the target of 231 runs, India made a brilliant start. Rohit completed his half-century in 33 balls. Opener Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring 16 runs in 35 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 58 runs in 47 balls. Both these batsmen were dismissed by Vellalage. Washington Sundar could score only five runs. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer were dismissed after getting set. Kohli scored 24 runs in 32 balls and Shreyas scored 23 runs in 23 balls. There was a partnership of 57 runs between KL Rahul and Akshar. Rahul was dismissed after scoring 31 runs and Akshar after scoring 33 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was dismissed after scoring two runs.

After this, Shivam Dubey played some big shots but he could not make the team win. India needed only five runs in the last 18 balls but Aslanka got Shivam and Arshdeep out on consecutive balls and tied the match. Shivam Dubey was out after scoring 25 runs in 24 balls. This is the second time when the match between India and Sri Lanka has ended in a tie.

Sri Lanka, batting against India in the first ODI, scored 230 runs in 50 overs losing 8 wickets. Dunith Vellage and Nissanka scored half centuries for Sri Lanka. All the bowlers took wickets from India except Gill. Sri Lanka had lost 5 wickets at a score of 105 at one point, but with the help of Vellage and Nissanka, the team made a comeback and crossed 200. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first against India. However, this decision did not prove to be very good for Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka suffered the first setback in the third over itself.

Mohammad Siraj gave India its first breakthrough in his second over. There was a 39-run partnership for the second wicket between Nissanka and Mendis. Kusal Mendis was dismissed after scoring 14 runs in 31 balls. Shivam dismissed him. Sadira Samarawickrama could score only 8 runs in 18 balls. Captain Charith Aslanka could score only 14 runs in 21 balls. Pathum Nissanka returned to the pavilion after scoring 56 runs in 75 balls. Janith Liyanage (20) was dismissed by Akshar. Hasaranga contributed 24 runs in 35 balls. Dunith Vellalage scored an unbeaten 67 runs in 65 balls. In his innings, he hit 7 fours and two sixes. India had earlier clean swept the three-match T20 International series.
