Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had a humorous response to a journalist’s query in the course of the press convention the place he named Pakistan’s squad for the World Cup 2023.

The Pakistani spin contingent, comprising Shadab Khan, Usama Mir and Mohammad Nawaz, struggled within the Asia Cup 2023. Barring Iftikhar Ahmed, who picked up three wickets within the Super 4 match in opposition to Sri Lanka, not one of the Pakistani spinners may make an influence.

To add humour to the presser, Inzamam jokingly mentioned that Pakistan can’t choose Kuldeep Yadav of their crew.

“You have come up with some good stats on both bowlers but let me say that I cannot select Kuldeep Yadav… for me that’s an issue as he is from another team,” Inzamam was quoted as saying within the press convention.

Earlier, there have been studies that Abrar Ahmed would possibly substitute Shadab within the squad. However, Shadab retained his spot within the crew whereas Abrar was picked a travelling reserve.

Inzamam, within the meantime, confirmed religion in Shadab and Nawaz to carry out effectively within the World Cup to be held from October 5 to November 19.

“We have selected Shadab and Nawaz because we wanted continuity. The World Cup squad is planned for years ahead, and cannot be changed abruptly. Shadab and Nawaz have been doing very well for Pakistan for the past two years. They have not been taking wickets in the middle and performing up to their own caliber but they have done so in the past and we have confidence in them,” Inzamam added.
