Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium witnessed fireworks on Wednesday as Sunrisers Hyderabad outclassed Punjab Kings by 33 runs in IPL 2026, storming to the points table lead. Punjab’s Cooper Connolly produced a dazzling unbeaten century against SRH, yet his team couldn’t chase down the target.

SRH’s innings was a masterclass in power-hitting, amassing 235 for the loss of just four wickets. The total looked daunting from the outset.

PBKS stumbled at the start, losing openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh for next to nothing. The innings hung by a thread until Connolly took charge, remaining not out on 107 off 59 balls with 8 sixes and 7 boundaries.

Connolly’s brilliance yielded a haul of milestones. He entered the record books as the youngest foreign batter to notch an IPL hundred, aged 22 years and 257 days. For PBKS, he’s only the second player to achieve this feat under 23, emulating Prabhsimran Singh.

Shattering history, Connolly dethroned Chris Gayle’s 104* as PBKS’ best against SRH. His 8 sixes also mark the highest tally in an IPL innings by a PBKS 22-year-old.

While SRH bask in their victory, Connolly’s knock promises a bright future, blending youth with audacious talent.
