Jannik Sinner launched his Miami Open campaign with authority, defeating Damir Zmurhur 6-3, 6-3 to tie Novak Djokovic’s streak of 24 straight sets in ATP Masters 1000 events. The victory at Hard Rock Stadium caps a red-hot run including Paris Masters and Indian Wells titles, with Sinner’s serve surrendering just eight points.

The young gun now eyes third-round opponent Corentin Moutet, who outlasted Tomas Machac 6-0, 1-6, 6-4. Taking the first set would break new ground beyond Djokovic.

Reflecting on the milestone, Sinner noted, ‘I aim to improve continuously and stay match-fit. Every opponent deserves the same treatment—right mindset on court, giving 100% every time.’

As 2024 defending champion with no points at stake from last year, Sinner is primed to escalate his battle with Carlos Alcaraz. Hot off Indian Wells, he’s poised to join Roger Federer as the only player since 2017 to sweep the Sunshine Double.

Action heated up as Alexander Shevchenko upset Ben Shelton 6-7(3), 7-6(3), 6-3, notching his third top-10 win and curtailing the American’s 1-4 record in Florida’s premier event.
