The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on Tuesday, July confirmed that the postponed Asian Games shall be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8 in 2023. The Asian Games have been scheduled to be held in September 2022 however the OCA confirmed the postponement till 2023 resulting from rise in Covid-19 instances in China earlier this yr.

The OCA created a “Task Force” to plan the brand new dates for the Asian Games in session with the Chinese Olympic Committee, and Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee amongst different stakeholders.

“The OCA thanks HAGOC, the Chinese Olympic Committee, as well as the Governments at all levels for their hard work in preparing for the Games during the pandemic and ensuring they can take place next year. The OCA would also like to express its appreciation for the patience shown by the National Olympic Committees and International Federation/Asian Federations and other stakeholders.
