Dominance defined day two of the Asian Rifle/Pistol Championship in New Delhi, where India’s shooters turned the medal table into their personal playground. Ten golds by day’s end, plus five silvers and a bronze, have the host nation far ahead of second-placed Uzbekistan’s three golds.
Silver linings brightened the mixed team 10m Air Pistol, where world champ Samrat Rana and World Cup winner Suruchi Singh dazzled. Topping quals at 583, they pushed Uzbekistan’s Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov to the wire in the final, losing 481.3 to 479.6 after 48 shots.
Junior women’s action saw Rashmika Sehgal fire 237.9 for gold, Vanshika Chaudhary 236.7 for silver, and Indonesia’s Asyifa Rihadtul bronze. Youth category mirrored this sweep: Priyanshi Porwal’s 234.8 gold, Chahak Kohli’s 233.0 silver, with Chinese Taipei’s shooter in third.
Relay-style team triumphs capped the day. Junior trio Rashmika Sehgal, Vanshika Chaudhary, and Agam Grewal scored 1,714 to crush Kazakhstan by 43 points. Youth shooters Priyanshi Porwal, Chahak Kohli, and Shiksha Saran hit 1,709, sending Kazakhstan to silver again.
Vietnam (582 in mixed quals) and Chinese Taipei (575) reached finals but couldn’t match India’s prowess. Looking ahead, Friday brings mixed pistol teams and men’s 10m Air Rifle finals—prime opportunities for India to extend their reign in Asian shooting history.
