Unmukt Chand on being the primary Indian to play in BPL: Couldn’t play until the time I used to be with the BCCI

BPL 2023: Unmukt Chand is ready to play for the Chattogram Challengers within the upcoming version of the T20 event on Bangladesh soil.

By India Today Web Desk: Unmukt Chand, on Wednesday, January 4, reacted on being the primary Indian to participate within the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Chand was picked to play for the Chattogram Challengers, who will probably be captained by veteran all-rounder Shuvagata Hom.

Chand stated that since he was earlier contracted with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he wasn’t in a position to participate in overseas leagues world wide. Back in August 2021, Chand left India to discover alternatives within the United States of America (USA).

Chand will probably be plying his commerce alongside the likes of Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Curtis Campher and others within the Challengers.

“Playing in these leagues is always a matter of respect and I enjoy them. Earlier, I was with the BCCI and hence couldn’t take part. Since I left India, I have been able to play all around the world with a number of professional cricketers. For a cricketer it’s a big thing to rub shoulders with some of the best in the world,” Chand was quoted as saying in a press-conference.

The Chattogram franchise is but to win the BPL, having performed the ultimate solely as soon as again in 2013 the place they misplaced to the Dhaka franchise by 43 runs.

However, the 29-year-old Chand reckoned that Chattogram have the required expertise to win the trophy this time round.

“I have come here to see Chattogram win. This team hasn’t won a BPL trophy before despite playing well. Even this season, we will be eyeing victory. When a team wins, their players get a lot of attention,” he added.

Last season, Chand additionally grew to become the primary Indian to participate within the Big Bash League (BBL) when he performed for the Melbourne Renegades.

The Challengers will participate within the first match of the event towards Sylhet Strikers on Friday, January 6 on the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
