Virat Kohli welcomes Faf du Plessis’s appointment as RCB skipper: Couldn’t be happier

Star batter Virat Kohli welcomed the appointment of former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis as the following RCB captain forward of IPL 2022.

Star batter Virat Kohli is completely satisfied and excited to cross on the baton to his ‘good good friend’ Faf du Plessis after the previous South Africa skipper was appointed as the brand new captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) forward of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

“We’ve been in touch for many years now and he’s one of the guys I’ve gotten to know a little bit more apart from cricket,” Kohli stated.

RCB on Saturday introduced Faf du Plessis as their new captain because the South African batter grew to become their seventh skipper. It would be the first time Du Plessis will lead a crew within the Twenty20 competitors. Kohli had stepped down from the position after the tip of IPL 2021, including he wished to take a breather from the accountability. The former South Africa batter, who spent a decade with Chennai Super Kings, was purchased by RCB for Rs 7 crore on the IPL 2022 mega public sale.

“We get very along well, so I’m absolutely excited for him to lead RCB… and to play under him. The partnership with Faf is going to be exciting for RCB fans with (Glenn) Maxwell as well and the core group we retained,” Kohli added.

“The team looks balanced and pretty strong. I can’t wait to get started and to catch up with Faf and the rest of the boys. I’m really looking forward to this season. I’m excited.”

Expressing his enjoyment of being appointed as RCB captain, Faf du Plessis stated, “The opportunity to be the captain of a franchise like RCB is massive and a role I was glad to accept. The work is just going to begin as we try to build off the success the team has enjoyed in previous years. I would like to thank RCB management and the coaching team for entrusting me with the role and I will do my best to ensure a successful season this time with the desired outcome.”

The total fifteenth version of the IPL shall be performed in a bio-secure setting in Mumbai and Pune, within the western state of Maharashtra, from March 26. The ultimate is scheduled for May 29. Two new franchises — Lucknow and Ahmedabad — may even be a part of the competitors.
