West Indies coach Phil Simmons steps down after T20 World Cup debacle

West Indies head coach Phil Simmons on Tuesday has resigned from following their early elimination on the T20 World Cup exit.

The West Indies, two-times winners of the T20 World Cup, had been bundled out within the first spherical after losses to Scotland and Ireland, ending backside of Group B.

“I acknowledge that it’s not just the team that is hurting but the proud nations we represent as well,” Simmons mentioned in a press release.

“It’s disappointing and coronary heart wrenching however we simply didn’t flip up. We weren’t adequate and we now have to look at a event play-out with out our involvement.
