The ICC is rewriting the financial playbook for women’s cricket with a 10% prize money hike for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, totaling $8,764,615. Announced in Dubai, this eclipses the prior $7,958,077 pot from the UAE event, fueled by the tournament’s growth to 12 teams.

England leads the pack as hosts, alongside cricketing giants Australia, India, South Africa, New Zealand, and others like Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Pakistan, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. This diverse field guarantees edge-of-the-seat action.

Prize distribution is lucrative: $2.34 million for the victor, $1.17 million for second place, $675,000 per semi-finalist, $31,154 per group win, and a floor of $247,500 for all entrants.

Set to launch June 12 at Edgbaston with England vs. Sri Lanka, the tournament unfolds over 24 days across seven English venues, featuring 33 high-stakes games.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta celebrated the milestone: ‘The expansion to 12 teams and record prizes demonstrate our dedication to fostering competitive excellence and empowering women in cricket worldwide.’

Tournament chief Beth Barrett-Wyld added, ‘This is history in the making—the biggest audience, ticket frenzy, and prize purse for any women’s T20. Parity with men’s prizes speaks volumes about the sport’s stature.’

The trophy tour is fanning flames of excitement nationwide. ‘It’s connecting with new fans and priming us for an epic summer that will define women’s cricket’s future.’

With such stakes, expect trailblazing talent to shine, propelling the game into a new era of prominence.
