WPL 2023: We will see a variety of younger expertise due to the match, says India captain Harmanpreet Kaur

By India Today Web Desk: India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has mentioned that the Women’s Premier League will assist India unearth a variety of younger and proficient cricketers. The inaugural season of the WPL is scheduled to kick-start in March.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, Harmanpreet mentioned the emergence of younger expertise shall be boosted because of the WPL, as we have now seen earlier than for males’s cricket and the IPL.

We have seen in males’s cricket, how they improved after the IPL. The emergence of expertise that we have now seen in males’s cricket could be seen in girls’s cricket (After the WIPL). It’s going to be very well-known worldwide, not simply in India. We will see a variety of younger expertise due to the match,” mentioned Harmanpreet.

The India skipper mentioned the hole between home and worldwide cricket shall be lowered by the WPL, as it is going to give gamers an opportunity to prepare for the worldwide stage.

“The gap between domestic and international cricket can be cut down. It’s very difficult for a young player to straightaway come into the team (from domestic cricket) and face those hurdles in international cricket. Players will start feeling ready for international cricket,” Harmanpreet added.

While speaking concerning the Indian setup, Harmanpreet mentioned that their focus stays on enjoying attacking and progressive cricket, regardless of the circumstances.

“We have been trying to play like this (attacking cricket) for some time now. I’m really pleased that, now, finally we are seeing the results. We regularly discuss in team meetings that we have to play aggressive cricket. It doesn’t matter how the pitch is behaving, we have to remain positive in our approach,” mentioned Harmanpreet.

She went on to say that the gamers again their talents and try to set targets as a substitute of simply going with the circulation.

“We have to back our abilities. We want to set certain targets while batting instead of just going with the flow. Previously, we have been caught on the wrong foot with that strategy. We want to rectify that. We need to be mindful of our strike rate,” Harmanpreet added.
