The cricketing world is saddened by the untimely passing of 22-year-old Priyajit Ghosh, a cricketer from Bengal, who died from a sudden heart attack during a gym session in Bolpur, Birbhum district, on Friday morning. Ghosh dreamt of playing for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and representing India. His passion for cricket began early, and he quickly emerged as a talented player. He was the leading run-scorer in the 2019-19 inter-district Under-16 cricket tournament organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), earning an award for his exceptional performance. Following in the footsteps of his idol Virat Kohli, Ghosh emphasized fitness, regularly exercising at the gym. Tragically, while at a fitness center in Bolpur’s Mission Compound area on Friday, he collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite immediate medical attention, he could not be saved. The cricketing community is deeply affected by the loss of this promising young player. The rising number of heart attacks among youth is a significant concern that necessitates prompt action.
