A protest against alleged irregularities in the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams took place at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, drawing hundreds of students. Police intervened, leading to detentions and sparking political outrage. The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the central government, accusing it of deploying police to break up the demonstration and harm the students. The Congress condemned the Modi government’s move to send police at night to suppress the SSC students’ movement, calling it unacceptable. The party highlighted that the students had been seeking reforms in the SSC for months and turned to a demonstration in Delhi after their concerns were not addressed. The Congress insisted the government must heed the students’ demands, which they deemed justified. Students reported the police used force to remove them from the protest. Visuals on social media showed a large crowd at the protest venue. Protesters also raised concerns about recruitment mismanagement, administrative failures, and the lack of transparency in the examination process. Police officials, however, denied any wrongdoing, stating that some protesters were detained after refusing to leave despite repeated warnings. This protest brought renewed attention to the long-standing issue of transparency in recruitment examinations. The protesters stated that the movement reflected widespread dissatisfaction with the conduct and results of SSC exams.
