State of Karnataka to Implement Plastic Ban in Temples

Starting August 15, the Karnataka government will instate a ban on all forms of plastic within temples managed by the state’s Religious Endowment (Muzrai) Department. This decision, announced by Revenue Minister and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy, aims to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility within these religious sites. The ban will be applicable across all temples managed by the Muzrai Department. Strict enforcement measures will be taken, including fines and potential criminal charges for anyone found using plastic. Furthermore, August 15 will be a Dry Day across Karnataka, restricting the sale of alcoholic beverages for 48 hours in observance of Janmashtami. Authorities are also taking preventive measures to maintain order during public and religious events.
