2 young men and a woman arrested for online fraud, fraud of lakhs by taking OTP

Virendra Gahwai, Bilaspur. Sarkanda police has arrested 2 young men and 1 young woman who were involved in online fraud. The accused had committed online fraud of 17 lakh 80 thousand rupees by taking OTP. Police recovered 7 lakh 20 thousand rupees from them.

Satyajit Kumar, the branch manager of HDFC Bank in Sarkanda area, had lodged a report at Sarkanda police station on June 7 that bank account holder Sandhya Mishra had withdrawn Rs 17 lakh 80 thousand online by receiving OTP of Raj Singh resident Panipat’s account. As per the order of Panipat court, HDFC Bank Sarkanda was holding the said account and transferring the amount back to Raj Singh’s account, in which due to a system error, the amount of Rs 17,80,000 was returned to the account of accused Sandhya Mishra. When the money was returned to the account, Sandhya Mishra and other accused committed fraud by withdrawing Rs 13 lakh 70 thousand through various means.

On the report of the case, a crime was registered in Sarkanda police station and investigation of the case was started. Police arrested the accused Sandhya Mishra by raiding under the leadership of Sarkanda police station in-charge Top Singh. During police interrogation, she confessed that she along with her acquaintances Priyanshu Mishra, Nitesh Sahu, Vaibhav Pandey, Nand Kumar took OTP from Raj Singh, a resident of Panipat, and got Rs 17 lakh 80 thousand deposited in her account. She accepted withdrawing Rs 13 lakh 70 thousand from this and dividing it among themselves. On this, Sarkanda police seized Rs 50 thousand from Sandhya Mishra, Rs 4,50 lakh from Priyanshu Mishra and Rs 2 lakh 20 thousand from Nitesh Sahu, a total of Rs 7 lakh 20 thousand. Action was taken against the accused under sections 120B, 403, 406, 411, 414, 418, 420, 421, 34 IPC 66 (D) IT Act.
